Mission:
To share the richness of the diverse cultures in our community through art, music, and other expressions. Events include Moon Festival Celebration, Chinese New Year Celebration, etc.
Vision and Goal:
In 2020, the demography of Fremont is approximately 58.40% Asians consisting mostly of Indians and Pakistanis, Chinese, Filipinos, Koreans, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc. With such a diverse background in the community, Fremont is enriched and blessed with a myriad of unique and interesting cultures, customs and mores, religious beliefs and etiquettes, food customs and clothing wears. And, of course, each with their own traditional folk music, dances and festivals. CBC's goal is to draw on this wealth of diversity. I vision a community that shares, exchanges, and celebrates their diverse cultural background together, will benefit together by enjoying, learning, and growing into a happier and better community! CBC has done just that in past years.
One year, to celebrate the Chinese Moon Festival together, CBC and the Rotary Club of Fremont joined efforts and presented a fun-filled skit about the legendary Houyi and the nine moons. The program also featured an outstanding classical Indian dance by an award winning 9-year old lovely Indian girl. And, of course, there were sumptuous servings of scrumptious Chinese cuisine along with plenty of delicious moon cakes.
For the past two years, members of CBC were invited to celebrate the Myanmar Thingyan Water Festival which ushers in the Myanmar New Year. In return, CBC invited members of the Myanmar community to attend our Spring Celebration. This is CBC's biggest annual fundraiser event, attracting a few hundred guests from diverse cultural backgrounds, many of whom dressed up in their colorful national costumes. The Indian community is always well represented at this event. In return, not only do many CBC members attend the Indian Community's Unity Day celebration, we have routinely sent young dancers to perform classical Chinese folk dances at their Unity Day Celebration.
By promoting cultural exchanges, the various diverse communities and citizens in Fremont understand, respect and enjoy their differences, resulting in a better community together.
